Make your first 15-second Claude Motion video (2026)

A complete first-video brief, storyboard, revision prompt, and local export checklist for the open-source Claude Motion toolkit.

This exercise creates an original 15-second announcement for a fictional note app called Fieldnote. It uses the whaleyxbt Claude Motion toolkit and Remotion. It is a proposed workflow, not a claim that we rendered this example. Anthropic Motion, this toolkit, and this site’s Claude Motion Skills are separate products.

Set a small, measurable goal

The viewer should understand one action: turn scattered notes into a weekly summary. Use three scenes, one accent color, and text instead of a complicated product recording. Choose 1080 × 1920, 30 fps, and 15 seconds as this exercise’s delivery brief. That is 450 frames. Define success before generating: all copy is readable on a phone, the final action remains visible, and no unsupported performance claim appears. Put your approved copy and any owned logo in the project before asking the agent to build.

Turn the idea into three scenes

Plan 0–4 seconds for the problem: three note cards surround the words “Notes everywhere?” Plan 4–10 seconds for the explanation: the cards settle into a single weekly-summary card. Plan 10–15 seconds for the action: Fieldnote and “Try a calmer weekly review.” These are example messages, not real product claims. At 30 fps the boundaries are frames 0, 120, 300, and 450. Ask for readable pauses after each entrance; fitting words inside a scene is not enough if they keep moving.

Give the agent a complete starting prompt

After opening your installed toolkit, copy the original prompt below. The repository’s studio command opens its local preview; its example build command is not a universal export command for every new composition.

Read AGENTS.md and the project skills. Build a 15-second Fieldnote announcement at 1080 × 1920 and 30 fps. Use the three-scene storyboard above, cream background, charcoal type, and one green accent. Use only supplied text and owned assets. Start with a storyboard and named timing points; then implement, create a draft, inspect frames, and fix clipping. Keep this first version silent. Report the composition ID and actual output path.

Make one revision that can be checked

Watch the draft once without pausing, then inspect the scene boundaries and longest text. If the middle card enters too slowly, use the revision prompt below. This describes a visible outcome and preserves approved choices. Re-render the changed section before trusting an agent’s statement that it is fixed.

In scene two, finish the card entrance by 4.8 seconds and hold the summary fully visible until 9.5 seconds. Keep scene one, the palette, wording, and total 15-second duration unchanged. Inspect the updated transition and report any affected timing.

Export the composition you actually made

Use Remotion Studio’s Render dialog and select your new composition, or use the CLI with its real composition ID. Choose an MP4 delivery file and verify its dimensions, duration, first frame, final frame, and readable text in a normal player. Keep source files and a separate final filename. If you instead use this site, download the editable project and follow its HyperFrames local-render instructions; the Remotion workflow above belongs to the open-source toolkit. An HTML preview is useful for review, but it is not the MP4 you upload.

Your next step

Finish one clear, readable 15-second story before adding extra scenes, voiceover, or alternate formats. Save the brief with the final file so later revisions have a stable reference.
